I'm Michael Heyman

Hi, I'm Michael. I'm a Backend Software Engineer hailing from Portland, Oregon. I've been writing code professionally for over 7 years, with a focus on Go (Golang), Distributed Systems, and Cloud Computing. My journey into software started when I was a young teenager, building bots and features for the mIRC platform using mSL (mIRC Scripting Language). This early experience laid the foundation for my deep love of writing code to solve problems. Since then, I have pursued a career in healthtech, where I have worked with a member-first mindset, with a focus on building scalable, secure, and maintainable systems. I am passionate about developer quality of life, observabily, clean code, best practices, and continuous learning. When I'm not working or tinkering with a new project, you might find me brewing beer, playing music, or enjoying time with my family.
